IRIB official reacts to US assassination of Gen. Soleimani

Peyman Jebelli, world service chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), has talked about the most appropriate response to the martyrdom of IRGC Quds Force Commander Major General Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).   

In a statement on Friday Jebeli said, “Islamic Revolution of Iran will live longer than what foes have imagined and the response to the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Soleimani would be fit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.”  

He further explained that, “Given the US act of international terrorism, targeting and assassinating General Soleimani, we must look back to the 40-year history of the Islamic Revolution as this is not the first time that the Islamic Revolution has faced such challenges. In the early years of the revolution, we had great personalities such as president, head of the judiciary, parliamentarians and many officials and ministers who we lost to assassination attempts.”

Jebelli once again reiterated that there have been many incidents in the history of this revolution, but we have witnessed that our revolution has been pursued even stronger than before.

“The appropriate response to the assassination of Commander Soleimani would be given on a deftly and wise Iranian approach; a country that has always proven it can go through hardships.”

Jebelli’s remarks came after the US' missile attacks hit two cars transferring General Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and 10 companions and bodyguards from Baghdad Airport to the city at 1 AM (local time) on Friday.

Later in the day, a number of Iranian actors, filmmakers and singers have also expressed sympathy over the martyrdom of Quds Force commander Major General Qasem Soleimani through social media pages.
